Book Review: "Full-Time Parenting" by Israel Wayne
It probably doesn't come as much of a surprise to know that there is a growing divide between what the world and the bible have to say regarding parenting. Much has happened within western culture, over the past 150 years, which has contributed to the disintegration of the traditional family. Today's Christian parents are often caught between following the popular, parenting trend or following what scripture says. This is where, I believe, Israel Wayne's ministry enters in.
Israel Wayne is an author, conference speaker, husband and father committed to "defending the Christian faith and promoting a biblical worldview." In his newest book, "Full-Time Parenting," Wayne gives readers a clear, thorough picture of what it means to be a Christian parent, or Full-Time Parent, as he calls it. He wastes no time in laying out the roles of the father, mother and child within the family. Although he covers these areas in detail, there were times when even more depth would have been beneficial. Nevertheless, I appreciated the way Wayne was willing to expound on difficult subjects even citing his own failings in order to help his readers.
If you're like me, you often wish someone would give clear-cut, practical advice when it comes to parenting. Wayne does just that as he writes about specific struggles in children as well as in parents. He gives concrete examples and advice for parents thirsty for biblical wisdom! Wayne touches on everything from technology to education, purity to strong marriages. Surely, this is a book which will stand the test of time and help form the foundation of families for many years to come.
